Driver sought following fatal crash in Balmoral

Police are seeking the driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal crash in Balmoral overnight.

Just after 1am two vehicles collided on Dominion Road, near Wiremu Street.

“The crash has resulted in one vehicle colliding with the storefront of a restaurant, and the other vehicle coming to a stop a short distance away,” acting Detective Senior Sergeant Rebecca Kirk says.

“Immediately after the crash, the driver of the vehicle which crashed into the shop fled on foot from the scene.”

Police staff arrived on scene a short time later.

Police are working to locate Amiria Wall, who has a warrant for her arrest and is wanted by Police.

Wall, 43, is wanted for fraud offending and is believed to be in the wider Auckland region.

Serious crash: Tiverton Road, Avondale

One person remains in hospital in a critical condition following a crash in Avondale early this morning.

At 2.14am, Police were notified of a single vehicle crash on Tiverton Road.

The vehicle had collided with a barrier.

The sole occupant of the vehicle was transported to Auckland City Hospital in a critical condition.

Tiverton Road was partially closed through the early hours of the morning, as the Serious Crash Unit examined the scene.

Arrest made after imitation firearm located - Auckland

A young person has been arrested following an incident involving an imitation firearm on an Auckland bus this morning.

Police were informed at 11.24am today that there was a person on a bus heading to Auckland City from Orakei in possession of a firearm.

The bus stopped on Quay Street and a youth and a woman got off and entered a nearby supermarket.

Armed Police arrived on the scene quickly and located the pair exiting through the supermarket car park and safely took them into custody.

Police are appealing for information about another vehicle in relation to the murder of Kyle Whorrall in St Johns over Easter Weekend.

The vehicle, a silver 2004 Mitsubishi Grandis, registration GNG652, is believed to be connected to people Police would like to speak to.

We believe they have crucial information to share with us about the events surrounding Kyle’s tragic death.

The vehicle may have travelled to Northland in recent days.

Detective Inspector Glenn Baldwin is asking those occupants to make contact with Police as soon as possible.

Police are seeking information on the whereabouts of Julie Butler, who is missing from Aotea/Great Barrier Island.

The 55-year-old usually lives aboard her yacht the ‘Blazing Shadz’, moored in Kaiaraara Bay.

Police were notified by a partner agency about concerns for Julie on 4 April.

Local Police enquiries were hampered by the adverse weather conditions on the island at the time. However, on 7 April it was confirmed Blazing Shadz was not moored in its usual location.

Stacks of cocaine unpacked in Mt Wellington

Five duffle bags stacked with bricks of cocaine valued at close to $30 million have been unpacked at a Mount Wellington business.

Yesterday afternoon Police were called to the Carbine Road premises after a worker unloading a shipping container of building materials located the bags.

Detective Senior Sergeant Anthony Darvill, of Auckland City CIB, says more than 75 packages of cocaine wrapped in cellophane were located in the duffle bags.

“An investigation between Police and Customs is now under way following yesterday’s seizure.

Four arrested following dairy burglary

Four youths allegedly responsible for a burglary at a Mount Wellington dairy have been apprehended.

At about 2.50am, Police were called to the shop on Commissariat Road following a report of a vehicle being used to enter the premises.

Auckland City East Area Prevention Manager, Inspector Rachel Dolheguy, says the same four people then allegedly broke into another store next door and took a number of items before leaving in a different vehicle.

“A short time later a Police unit spotted a vehicle travelling at high speed on Ireland Road.

St Johns homicide: Significant developments as arrests made

The Police investigation into the tragic death of Kyle Whorrall over Easter Weekend has progressed significantly.

Detective Inspector Glenn Baldwin says on Tuesday afternoon, Police obtained further information about a black SUV that was subject of a media appeal.

“The Operation Aberfeldy team commenced investigations into this vehicle of interest and its movements.

“I can confirm we have now located this vehicle on the North Shore, and it has been seized by Police with a detailed forensic examination underway.”
