A Police investigation is ongoing after a man was seriously wounded in Papakura before lunchtime.

The incident occurred at around 11.42am, when the victim suffered an injury outside a business on Settlement Road.

Detective Senior Sergeant Michele Gillespie, of Counties Manukau CIB, says the victim sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries and was transported to Middlemore Hospital.

鈥淭he offender has fled on foot across Settlement Road and was last seen near an address,鈥� she says.

Officer stops thieves in their tracks

A group of offenders were no match for one Sergeant during a foot pursuit in Manukau.

In the process, thousands of dollars in products that had just been stolen was recovered.

Around 4.30pm on Wednesday, the on-duty Sergeant was conducting prevention patrols in the Manukau Westfield carpark, when a group of young people were seen running from the mall carrying handfuls of clothing.

鈥淭he officer saw the youths running and being pursued by mall security and a few other people,鈥� Counties Manukau Area Prevention Manager, Inspector Warrick Adkin says.

Eyes in the sky assist in locating missing man

Police wasted no time taking to the sky following a concerning call from a member of the public whose father suffering from dementia had gone missing.

Just before 1am, Police were informed of man in his 80s with dementia who had gone missing in the 艑rere Point area.

Counties Manukau South Area Prevention Manager, Inspector Matt Hoyes says the man hadn鈥檛 been seen for several hours and Police had several concerns for his wellbeing.

Fatal crash, Takanini

One person has died following a crash in Takanini last night.

Emergency services were called to the crash between a vehicle and a dirtbike on Mill Road just before 8.30pm.

Sadly, one person was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Serious Crash Unit attended and enquiries to determine the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.

Police appeal following fleeing driver incident on Southern Motorway

Police have made two arrests after a fleeing driver incident in South Auckland this evening.

At around 4.30pm, Police received information about a stolen vehicle travelling north in the Pukekohe area.

At about 5.08pm, this vehicle was seen travelling on Porchester Road in Papakura.

This vehicle then entered The Warehouse car park in Takanini Village and collected a female passenger.

Police accept IPCA findings following Beachlands disorder

Police accept the findings by the Independent Police Conduct Authority following a disorder by a group of young men in Beachlands.

On 11 November 2023, Police were called following a complaint of a group of intoxicated men behaving in a disruptive manner, which led to officers failing to follow the correct process for issuing formal warnings.

Three officers responded, with nine others arriving to assist during the hour long incident.

The group was described as being extremely intoxicated, fighting with each other, and being belligerent towards Police.

Up in smoke: Gang member sprung for tobacco theft

A patched gang member has been rolled after allegedly stealing tobacco pouches from Clover Park stores on multiple occasions.

Police have been investigating concerns raised by retailers on the Dawson Road shopping strip, in relation to thefts from their stores.

Counties Manukau East Area Prevention Manager, Inspector Rakana Cook, says Police received two reports of thefts from the same shop between 9-12 May.

鈥淧olice have been making a number of enquiries after a man entered the premises and stole a pack of tobacco before threatening the store worker.

Off the rails: Man to face court over theft

Police have derailed a man鈥檚 plans, putting him before the court for theft of thousands of dollars鈥� worth of railway sleepers.

On 2 May, witnesses called Police after seeing two men removing railway sleepers from beside the Glenbrook Vintage Railway line.

Waiuku Sergeant Michael Robinson says the witnesses managed to record the alleged offender鈥檚 number plate as well as video footage, which helped identify one of the men.

鈥淟ate last week Police executed a search warrant at a Pukekohe address where a number of railway sleepers were located and seized.

Police moved swiftly to keep motorists in Counties Manukau safe yesterday by activating a plan co-ordinating road patrols and the Eagle helicopter.聽聽聽

A dirt bike rider who allegedly ignored a warning about dangerous driving was one of two people later arrested.

Police stopped and spoke to the rider in Manurewa at around 9.30am.

鈥淭he dirt bike rider was allegedly driving dangerously into oncoming traffic and doing wheelies on the roadway,鈥� Inspector Warrick Adkin, Counties Manukau Central Area Prevention Manager says.
