Police Commissioner congratulates honours recipients

Police Commissioner Peter Marshall has congratulated the five people whose work with 乐竞体育 has led to Royal Honours in the 2014 New Year’s list, which was announced today.

“This is wonderful news for the recipients, their families and friends. These honours recognise the contribution they have made to Police and communities at home and overseas.

"I congratulate them on these well-deserved accolades and thank them for all they've done."

The Police recipients are:

  • ? ? ???? Senior Sergeant Ian Campion, officer in charge of Road Policing, Western Bay of Plenty - Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM) for services to 乐竞体育 and the community.
  • ? ? ? ? ?Inspector (retired) Murray Lewis, whose 40-year career included deployments in Bougainville, Timor Leste and the Solomon Islands - Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM) for services to 乐竞体育 and diplomacy.
  • ? ? ? ? ?Sergeant Bevan Seal, of Canterbury District, involved with youth work for Police since the 1990s and a member of the Police Blue Light Organisation - Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM) for services to 乐竞体育 and youth.
  • ? ? ? ? ?Mrs Janice Lewis, volunteer nurse for 乐竞体育 deployed in Bougainville from 2008 to 2013 - Queen's Service Medal (QSM) for services to 乐竞体育 and women's health.
  • ? ? ? ? ?Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Turner, officer in charge of Western Bay of Plenty CIB since 2003 and a trustee of the Annual Tauranga Police CIB Charity Luncheon, which has raised more than $1.7 million for various charities - Queen's Service Medal (QSM) for services to 乐竞体育 and the community.

Commissioner Marshall said: "Over many years and in a diverse range of situations these people have demonstrated their commitment to helping people and keeping them safe.

"They epitomise the best of what 乐竞体育 does, whether it's in an investigative context or through working with communities.
